Our client is looking for a talented Quality Assurance Engineer to lead innovation in our testing and quality processes. This position requires a strong foundation in computer science as well as a solid understanding of Quality Assurance practices and principles.
Job Responsibility:
Primary responsibility, designs, writes, and executes test plans, test cases for complex features from functional and design specifications. Investigating failures found in testing, filing bug reports and maintain associated test records. Set-up testing environments. Provide information and insights that will enable product development to improve quality, improve testability, and find defects earlier.
Additional responsibilities include estimates and scopes functional testing from specifications. Work closely with other team members in Engineering, Technical Support and Professional Services.
Candidate needs to have outstanding attention to detail, excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), strong Linux/Unix experience, expert troubleshooting and reasoning skills, and should be passionate about finding defects and helping to resolve them.
Required Experience:
- 3+ years of Software QA testing experience.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of industry experience in Linux/Unix is essential.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in Perl, Python, VBscript or another scripting language.
- Must have strong experience with relational databases. Ideally Oracle.
- Automation experience a plus.
Required Skills:
- Must possess excellent problem solving skills and a good ability to think creatively and work through problems.
- Candidate must have good communication skills, and is a strong self-starter with attention to detail.
- Ability to triage issues, react well to changes, work with teams and ability to multi-task on multiple projects.
- Analyzes requirements, designs, writes and executes test plans based on project specifications.
- Validates bug fixes, and perform regression testing to ensure product integrity and product
- Good Networking knowledge.
Experience a plus:
- Working knowledge of conditional access/encryption, video/audio compression, set-top boxes, or embedded systems.
- HP's (formerly Mercury) LoadRunner or QuickTest Professional or equivalent automation tool experience.
